Jollibee to fully acquire Tim Ho Wan business

Jollibee Foods Corp. announced on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement to fully acquire the Tim Ho Wan business, marking the fast-food giant’s expansion into the global dim sum and Cantonese cuisine segment. The deal will see Jollibee Worldwide Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of Jollibee, take ownership of 100 percent of Tim Ho Wan Holdings Pte. Ltd., the holding company for the renowned Hong Kong-based brand.

The acquisition, which consolidates Tim Ho Wan into Jollibee’s portfolio, follows a transfer of ownership from Titan Fund, which had previously held the majority stake in the brand. Jollibee Worldwide has already held a 92 percent participating interest in Titan Fund since January 2024, with a cash payment of Singapore dollar 20.2 million to acquire the remaining 8 percent from other investors.

Tim Ho Wan, founded in 2009 by chefs Mak Kwai Pui and Leung Fai Keung, gained global acclaim for its affordable Michelin-starred dim sum, earning its first Michelin star in 2010. With around 80 locations across 11 countries, the brand has become synonymous with high-quality Cantonese cuisine, known for iconic dishes such as barbecue pork buns, steamed rice rolls, and pan-fried turnip cake.

Jollibee plans to position Tim Ho Wan as the flagship brand for its Chinese cuisine segment, further expanding the brand’s global reach. The brand recently unveiled a new flagship concept that combines elevated Cantonese flavors with a modern Hong Kong vibe, offering a broader menu that includes barbecue roast dishes, seafood poached rice, soy sauce chicken, crispy noodles with lobster, and sweet and sour pork.

With the acquisition, Jollibee continues to diversify its portfolio, which includes popular brands such as Jollibee, Mang Inasal, and Red Ribbon, among others. The move signals Jollibee’s commitment to expanding its global footprint while tapping into the growing demand for high-quality Asian dining experiences worldwide.
