The New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) is gearing up for a bustling holiday season at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), with passenger numbers and flights expected to surpass those of last year’s Undas period and the 2023 holiday peak. Between 20 December and 3 January, NNIC anticipates a 10.95 percent increase in traffic, with 2.296 million passengers expected to pass through NAIA’s terminals.
To ensure smooth operations, NNIC has coordinated with key agencies including the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and security and customs authorities, to implement additional staffing, optimized terminal processes, and enhanced security measures. Airline companies are also working to open more check-in counters earlier to minimize wait times for travelers.
“We are working hard to make the holiday experience as safe and comfortable as possible,” said Ramon S. Ang, NNIC president.
Since taking over NAIA’s operations 90 days ago, NNIC has rolled out several improvements aimed at enhancing passenger experience, including expanded curbside areas, a centralized transport hub at Terminal 3, and better air conditioning throughout the terminals. New seating and trolleys have also been introduced to further support travelers’ convenience.
In the spirit of the season, NNIC has launched a festive “Fly and Win” promo, giving passengers the chance to win luxury vehicles, including a 2024 BMW X5 for international passengers and a 2024 BMW 3 Series for domestic flyers. Passengers can join the raffle by scanning a QR code at the airport.
To help manage the increased traffic, NNIC advises travelers to arrive early—at least 2.5 to 3 hours for domestic flights and 3.5 to 4 hours for international departures. Passengers are also encouraged to check flight updates and adhere to baggage restrictions to expedite security screening.
“We thank the public for their continued trust in NAIA, and we are committed to providing a welcoming experience throughout the holiday season,” Ang said.
