First Gen Corporation, a leader in renewable energy, and Oakridge Realty Development Corporation (ORDC) have expanded their collaboration with a new agreement to install a rooftop solar power facility at Oakridge Business Park in Mandaue City, Cebu. The facility will feature photovoltaic panels with a 638-kilowatt-peak solar capacity, reinforcing the park’s commitment to sustainability.
The agreement, signed in February by ORDC president Anne Liu and First Gen chief engagement officer Carlo Vega, marks a significant step in ORDC’s ongoing effort to integrate environmentally friendly practices into its projects. The Oakridge Business Park, a 4-hectare mixed-use property, is the first in Cebu to operate entirely on renewable energy, already featuring electric vehicle charging stations and solar-powered mobile device charging stations.
This collaboration builds on a series of agreements between the two companies, starting with a natural gas power supply contract in 2021, followed by a transition to geothermal energy in 2023. The partnership also includes a remote energy monitoring system that provides real-time electricity usage tracking and regular energy audits to enhance efficiency.
ORDC, a subsidiary of Cebu-based LH Paragon Group Inc., and First Gen, which operates 28 renewable energy plants, are both committed to reducing carbon footprints and promoting sustainability. With a combined capacity of 3,668 megawatts from renewable and natural gas-fired power plants, First Gen plays a pivotal role in supporting the country’s energy security.
This initiative reflects a broader corporate trend toward sustainability, positioning both First Gen and Oakridge Business Park as leaders in environmentally responsible development and operations.
