Globe Telecom partners with OREX SAI to pilot Open RAN in PH

OREX SAI, Inc. and Globe Telecom, Inc. have announced a strategic partnership to launch a demonstration experiment for Open RAN (Radio Access Network) in the Philippines. This collaboration is part of the Japan Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications’ program to prepare for an upcoming Open RAN field trial.

Open RAN, an innovative technology that allows seamless integration of equipment from various vendors, promises to bring more flexibility, scalability, and cost-efficiency to telecom networks. As part of this demonstration, Globe will assess the feasibility and performance of Open RAN solutions and evaluate their potential for future network enhancements.

Globe Telecom aims to leverage this technology to stay at the forefront of digital transformation. According to Joel Agustin, Globe’s Head of Service Planning and Engineering, this initiative will provide crucial insights into how Open RAN can support the company’s evolving network needs.

OREX SAI, led by CTO Sadayuki Abeta, brings its extensive experience in deploying Open RAN across Southeast Asia to this collaboration, promising flexible and scalable solutions for Globe’s network. The partnership is poised to contribute significantly to both global Open RAN discussions and the ongoing evolution of telecom infrastructure in the Philippines.
