Globe champions climate action in Earth Hour drive

Telecommunications giant Globe reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility through a series of impactful climate initiatives aligned with this year’s Earth Hour and long-term biodiversity goals.

As part of the global Earth Hour movement, Globe called on individuals, businesses, schools, and organizations to switch off non-essential lights and adopt daily habits that promote energy conservation and sustainability. The company also urged the public to take simple but meaningful actions, such as unplugging idle devices and opting for stairs when possible, to build a culture of environmental mindfulness.

Beyond symbolic gestures, Globe continues to advance systemic climate action. The company is transitioning high-consumption facilities to renewable energy, adopting energy-efficient network solutions, and using electric vehicles (EVs) for employee transport.

“Protecting the environment requires consistent action and collaboration,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe chief sustainability and corporate communications officer. “Through our climate and other environmental programs and partnerships, we are making sustainability more accessible to communities and empowering individuals to make a positive impact.”

In a move underscoring its broader environmental responsibility, Globe also pledged support for the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) Forests for Life: 5M Trees by 2028 campaign. This nationwide reforestation effort aims to rehabilitate degraded forests in Ilocos Norte, Rizal, Leyte, Bataan, Bukidnon, and Lanao del Norte, with Globe contributing through tree planting, community engagement, and logistical support.

These initiatives reflect Globe’s broader goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain and promote a climate-resilient future. The company continues to seek partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and the public to drive collective progress toward a greener Philippines.

By leading with purpose, Globe emphasizes that environmental protection is a shared responsibility — one that demands continuous collaboration and action from all sectors of society.
