Meralco, OMF electricity to Manila families for Christmas

Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and its corporate social responsibility arm, One Meralco Foundation (OMF), have provided safe and reliable electricity to 179 low-income households in Manila just in time for Christmas.

The lighting ceremony was held with Meralco and OMF leaders, along with local government officials, to celebrate the milestone under OMF’s Household Electrification Program (HEP). The program aims to give legal and affordable electricity connections to households that previously relied on shared or informal power sources.

The beneficiaries are residents of Barangays 581, 254, 107, and 649 Baseco Compound in the Port Area. The initiative was carried out in partnership with Meralco’s local business centers and the Manila city government.

“By energizing our barangays, we are empowering families and building a brighter future for our community,” said Manila city administrator Eduardo P. Quintos XIV, representing Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso.

Meralco senior vice president Ferdinand O. Geluz emphasized that HEP is more than just providing electricity—it is an investment in strengthening families and communities. OMF president Jeffrey O. Tarayao added that the program reflects the spirit of bayanihan, bringing both light and opportunities to these households.

Through HEP, Meralco and OMF aim to support inclusive development and ensure that no Filipino family is left in the dark.
