Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. will give a temporary full toll rebate to trucks carrying agricultural products starting Monday, April 20, to help keep food prices stable during the ongoing oil crisis.
The one-month program, running until May 19, covers major expressways including North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), NLEX Connector, Cavite–Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and Manila–Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX).
The move was coordinated with government agencies, including the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Transportation (DOTr), and Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), following an agreement to provide relief to truckers, farmers, and the food industry.
Only vehicles accredited by the DA and equipped with RFID stickers can avail of the rebate. Qualified operators can save about ₱600 to ₱1,800 per trip, with rebates credited weekly to their RFID accounts.
Officials said the program may be extended after a review by the DA, DOTr, TRB, and toll operators.
Separately, the Philippine Ports Authority has reduced roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) fees to ₱1 for vehicles carrying raw agricultural products to help maintain steady food supply and prices.
