Potato Corner, the kiosk-based snack giant under Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures, Inc., has secured two major accolades at the QSR Media Asia Conference & Awards 2026, reinforcing its position as a leading force in Asia’s quick-service restaurant sector.
The brand took home both a Special Recognition honor and the 2026 Multi-Site Restaurant of the Year award, underscoring its sustained domestic dominance and accelerating international footprint.
The annual event, organized by QSR Media Asia, gathers top operators and industry leaders to spotlight innovation and growth across the region.
Potato Corner’s expansion strategy has been central to its success. In the Philippines, the chain surpassed 2,100 stores by end-2025, opening nearly one outlet daily. Roughly 80 percent of its locations are franchised, highlighting a strong push toward entrepreneurship and job creation.
Abroad, the brand ended the year with 470 stores across 16 markets, spanning both developed and emerging economies such as Canada, China, Singapore, and Cambodia. Its 2025 entry into Taiwan exceeded expectations, with average daily sales nearly doubling projections.
Growth also continued in frontier markets like Myanmar and Laos, where consumer demand remained resilient.
Franchise partners have played a pivotal role. Chayapatra Thongcharoen, head of Rocks Group and master franchisee in Thailand and Malaysia, emphasized the brand’s adaptability across cultures. Thailand now hosts over 160 stores, while Malaysia has nearly 30 as of early 2026.
Innovation has complemented expansion. Localized offerings—from Thailand’s Guichai Fries to Singapore’s Mala flavors—have strengthened market relevance. In the Philippines, a campaign featuring Niana Guerrero boosted engagement among younger consumers.
Outgoing chief operating officer Jose Arnold T. Alvero credited the recognition to strong execution across markets, affirming the company’s goal of reaching more customers worldwide with accessible, flavorful offerings.
