Globe highlights digital transformation at MWC Barcelona 2026

At the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2026, Globe Telecom presented its shift from a traditional telecom provider to a digital services company, with support from Amazon Web Services.

Three Globe executives spoke at an AWS telecom session, outlining how cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) are helping the company improve services and expand digital access in the Philippines.

President and CEO Carl Cruz said Globe aims to become a “digital partner” in Filipinos’ daily lives, not just a connectivity provider. He noted that cloud technology is helping modernize systems, improve security, and deliver more personalized services. Cruz also described AI as a tool for expanding access to education, jobs, and essential services.

Chief AI officer Anton Bonifacio discussed the company’s push to scale AI use across the organization. He highlighted the “AI Kitchen,” a shared system for developing AI tools, and stressed the importance of responsible and ethical AI practices.

Meanwhile, Ricky Mohan, head of architecture and engineering, said Globe’s ongoing cloud upgrades are improving reliability, disaster recovery, and customer experience. These changes allow faster operations and more targeted services.

Globe said its partnership with AWS is helping speed up innovation, support employees, and deliver more tailored digital services, with a broader goal of promoting digital inclusion in the country.
