GSIS launches loan program for bikes and e-mobility devices

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has introduced a new loan program to help government workers lower their daily transportation costs.

Called the Ginhawa Bike and E-Mobility Loan (GBEL), the program allows members to buy bicycles and electric mobility devices without paying large upfront costs or fuel expenses.

Qualified members can borrow up to 100 percent of the unit’s price, with a maximum loan amount of ₱300,000. The loan is payable within 36 months and has a 5 percent annual interest rate. No service fee will be charged.

The program supports the Marcos administration’s goal of creating more affordable and livable communities, where workers can commute more easily.

GSIS said GBEL is part of a broader effort to ease everyday expenses. It follows the earlier launch of a solar energy loan aimed at reducing electricity costs.

GSIS president Wick Veloso said the loan offers a practical way for members to manage transportation expenses.

Applications can be submitted online through the GSIS Touch mobile app.

The loan covers brand-new bicycles and various electric transport options, including e-bikes, e-scooters, e-mopeds, cargo e-bikes, and folding e-bikes.
