The Department of Agriculture (DA) has lifted the ban on poultry and poultry products from California in the United States.
The import restriction, which covered birds, meat, eggs, and other poultry items, was imposed due to concerns over Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). The ban was removed after US veterinary authorities confirmed to the World Organisation for Animal Health that all HPAI outbreaks in California have been resolved.
Under the Philippines–US regionalization agreement, trade restrictions apply only when multiple counties report active cases.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said lifting the ban helps secure food supply while keeping biosecurity measures in place. The DA said imports will continue under existing rules and may help stabilize poultry supply and prices after recent fluctuations.
The agency also noted that renewed imports could improve market efficiency, while maintaining strict safety standards.
