DA lifts Argentina poultry ban after bird fly clearance

The Department of Agriculture has reopened poultry trade with Argentina, ending a temporary ban imposed earlier this year due to highly pathogenic avian influenza.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel signed Department Circular No. 29, revoking the earlier restriction. The move follows Argentina’s confirmation it has contained the outbreak and regained disease-free status under international standards.

DA assessments found the import risk negligible. Officials say expanded sourcing strengthens food security, supports local producers, and helps stabilize prices. Trade resumes 15 days after official publication, covering products made after the circular’s release.
