Leading Philippine financial institution BDO Unibank, together with its digital remittance partner Xoom, has extended support to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as the country commemorates Migrant Workers’ Day.
During the recent OFW Kabuhayan Expo 2026, the bank joined industry and government partners in guiding migrant workers toward long-term financial stability. The activity focused on equipping OFWs with knowledge and options to save, invest, and establish sustainable income sources for life after their deployment.
BDO senior vice president and head of remittance services Genie Gloria stated: “Our goal is to help OFWs maximize the value of every remittance they send. We aim to ensure that these funds not only meet immediate family needs but also create lasting financial foundations for their future and their loved ones.”
This initiative aligns with national policies that prioritize the economic security and well-being of Filipino migrant workers. By promoting financial literacy and accessible investment options, BDO contributes to the government’s objective of reducing vulnerability among overseas workers and encouraging productive reintegration into local communities upon their return. The effort also supports broader strategies to optimize the impact of remittances as a key driver of national economic growth.
