Vivant Energy Corp. (VEC) has fully acquired Samar Philippines Renewable Corp. (SPRC) from Envision Energy Philippines Corp. through its renewable energy arm, Vivant Renewable Energy Corp. While the financial terms were not disclosed, SPRC is the developer of a 200-megawatt wind farm located across four municipalities in Northern Samar.
Scheduled for completion and connection to the power grid by the end of 2028, the project is expected to produce around 695 gigawatt hours of clean energy each year. This output is enough to supply more than 190,000 households and will reduce approximately 487,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
This acquisition supports VEC’s “30 by 30” goal to expand its renewable energy capacity. Around 36 percent of the project’s capacity has already been awarded under the fourth Green Energy Auction Program (GEA-4), with the remaining volume covered by an agreement with a retail electricity supplier.
Envision Energy, which originally developed the project, will continue to collaborate with VEC, providing technical expertise and supporting the project’s progression toward construction and commercial operation.
In line with its expansion plans, Vivant Corp. has allocated roughly P67 billion for its energy and water operations up to 2030. About 90 percent of this fund will be directed to the energy sector, aiming to grow the company’s total generation capacity to 1,000 MW by 2030, with at least 30 percent coming from renewable sources. Currently, Vivant operates 471 MW of power capacity.
Recent milestones include secured contracts for solar projects in Bohol and Bataan, as well as capacity expansions for power facilities in Palawan. The company has also entered into a joint venture to develop a seawater desalination plant to supply clean water to Metro Cebu.
