First Balfour Inc., the construction and engineering unit of Lopez-led First Philippine Holdings Corporation, has received the prestigious Mother Nature Award from the Pollution Control Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PCAPI).
The company beat seven other contenders for the honor—one of PCAPI’s highest distinctions—during its 46th annual convention in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Judges noted First Balfour stood out for addressing all key sustainability areas including air quality, carbon reduction, and ecosystem protection, rather than focusing only on single issues like waste or water management.
The award follows a rigorous review starting March 2026, assessing environmental performance, governance, and real impact. PCAPI runs the awards in partnership with DENR’s Environmental Management Bureau to encourage proactive environmental action beyond regulatory compliance.
For over 50 years, First Balfour has built major Philippine infrastructure projects such as the Cebu–Cordova Link Expressway and Burgos Wind Farm, and says this recognition reinforces its commitment to a decarbonized future.
