Filipino workers seek better benefits beyond bigger pay

A bigger paycheck is no longer enough to keep many Filipino workers from looking elsewhere.

A growing number of employees are placing greater value on healthcare, financial security, and work-life balance, signaling a shift in what it takes for employers to attract and retain talent in an increasingly competitive labor market.

According to Aon’s 2025 Human Capital Employee Sentiment Study, 64 percent of Filipino employees are considering changing employers within the next 12 months, suggesting that compensation alone is no longer the deciding factor in career moves.

Instead, workers are weighing a broader package of benefits that supports their long-term well-being.

The study found that healthcare coverage, family protection, financial wellness, mental health support, and flexible work arrangements are becoming as important as salary when evaluating prospective employers.

The shift comes as rising healthcare costs and economic uncertainty prompt employees to place a higher premium on benefits that can cushion unexpected expenses and strengthen household finances.

Many workers are also looking for insurance protection and financial planning programs that help them prepare for emergencies and major life milestones, particularly in a country where employees often support extended family members.

“More than ever, workers want the confidence that they can focus on their goals, care for their loved ones, and navigate life’s challenges knowing they have support when they need it,” said Noemi Azura, president and chief executive officer of InLife Benefits.

For employers, the findings highlight a changing equation in the race for talent.

Companies are increasingly competing not only on wages but also on the quality of their employee value proposition, with comprehensive benefits emerging as a key differentiator in recruitment and retention.

InLife Benefits said organizations that invest in holistic employee support are likely to build a more engaged and resilient workforce while improving long-term loyalty.

The message for businesses is becoming clearer. As the labor market evolves, competitive pay may still open the door, but meaningful benefits are increasingly what persuade employees to stay.
