AEV first half net income 62% to P13.6 billion led by power segment

Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc. reported a 62 percent jump in first-half net income to P13.6 billion from P8.38 billion a year earlier, driven mainly by a stronger power business. Second-quarter earnings alone grew 40 percent to P7.3 billion.

Aboitiz Power contributed P10 billion to the total, boosted by the addition of a major hydroelectric facility that helps stabilize the grid and supports renewable energy use.

Union Bank of the Philippines added P3.4 billion, with steady growth in consumer loans and digital banking services. The food and beverage sector was the second-biggest contributor at P4 billion, while infrastructure operations saw rising passenger traffic across key airports.

Company chief Sabin M. Aboitiz said all investments aim to build stronger businesses and support national growth.
