Jollibee Group launches first Compose Coffee in PH, plans 5-year nationwide expansion

The Jollibee Group has opened its first Philippine branch of Compose Coffee at Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. This kicks off a five-year plan to expand the popular South Korean coffee chain across the country.

Compose Coffee is part of Jollibee Group’s strategy to grow its coffee and tea business. The brand has already found huge success in South Korea with over 3,000 stores, including 1,000 opened in less than 18 months. Its approach to the Philippines also draws from lessons learned during its successful launch in Taiwan.

“Our confidence in Compose Coffee here is based on proven results, not just forecasts. We have watched the brand grow strongly in South Korea by listening to customers and building a solid business,” said Joseph Tanbuntiong, chief executive offficer of Jollibee Group Philippines and head of Jollibee Brand Global. “By combining that track record with our deep knowledge of Filipino consumers and reliable operations, we aim to build a trusted brand that grows steadily and meaningfully across the country.”

Compose Coffee brings key strengths from its home market while adapting to local tastes. “South Korea has one of the world’s highest coffee consumption rates and most competitive markets. Compose Coffee succeeded there by focusing on quality, fair prices, consistency, and careful planning,” said Gordon Cho, chief executive officer  of Compose Coffee Korea. “With Jollibee Group, we are bringing that same approach here, while making sure we understand and serve what Filipino coffee lovers want.”

The nationwide rollout will use a franchise model, which allows faster growth while giving local entrepreneurs a chance to join the business. Over the next five years, Jollibee Group aims to develop the largest Compose Coffee network outside South Korea in the Philippines.

The menu includes classic coffee choices like Americanos and flavored lattes, along with unique Korean-inspired drinks. It also offers non-coffee lattes, frappes, smoothies, fruit drinks, desserts, and seasonal items to suit different preferences and occasions.

Jeannie Posas, the franchisee for the first store, shared her excitement: “I have seen how Compose Coffee built a loyal following in South Korea through good quality and value. When I heard Jollibee Group was bringing it here, I knew this was a strong opportunity. Working with a group that knows how to build brands Filipinos trust gave me the confidence to join from the start. I look forward to serving our customers and making Compose Coffee part of their daily lives.”

With this launch, the Jollibee Group continues to offer more Filipinos easy access to high-quality food and drinks, while expanding its growing range of coffee and tea brands.
