StB GigaFactory, BCDA explore clean energy projects

StB GigaFactory Inc. is expanding its clean-energy ambitions in the Philippines, partnering with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority to explore renewable power, battery storage, and electric mobility projects that could support the growth of next-generation industries.

The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding covering potential developments in New Clark City and other BCDA properties, with a focus on improving energy resilience and building sustainable infrastructure.

StB GigaFactory Chief Executive Officer Dennis C. Ibarra and BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang signed the agreement, which will allow both sides to study opportunities for integrating renewable energy generation, energy storage systems, and e-mobility solutions.

Under the partnership, StB GigaFactory will conduct site assessments, technical feasibility studies, and financial modeling to identify viable projects. BCDA will provide access to potential sites, project information, and administrative support.

The collaboration builds on StB GigaFactory’s existing presence in New Clark City, where it operates the country’s first manufacturing facility for lithium iron phosphate battery cells and battery energy storage systems.

The partnership could expand the role of locally produced battery technology from standalone storage applications into broader energy and mobility ecosystems. Potential projects may include solutions that combine renewable generation, storage capacity, and cleaner transportation infrastructure.

For New Clark City, the initiative reinforces its push to become a showcase for advanced industries, technology-driven development, and sustainable urban infrastructure.

The agreement comes as the Philippines works to improve energy security while accelerating renewable energy adoption and strengthening resilience against climate-related disruptions.

For StB GigaFactory, the partnership provides an opportunity to move beyond manufacturing and into integrated energy solutions, potentially opening a wider market for its battery technology as demand grows for reliable and cleaner power.

The collaboration also highlights the increasing role of energy storage in the country’s transition. As renewable energy sources expand, battery systems are expected to become increasingly important in managing supply fluctuations and ensuring a more stable power network.

If feasibility studies translate into actual projects, the BCDA partnership could position New Clark City as a testing ground for how renewable energy, storage, and electric mobility can work together at commercial scale.
