Philippine egg producers are joining forces to build the country’s emerging cage-free market, forming the first industry association focused on production as demand grows from hospitality, foodservice, and corporate buyers.
The Philippine Cage-Free Association (PCFA) was formally launched at ILDEX Philippines 2026 in Manila on Aug. 26, bringing together producers and industry stakeholders to strengthen technical capabilities, improve production practices, and develop the market.
The association was founded by Global Food Partners (GFP), Bounty Plus, Kingmerbi Corp., Dominant Asia Livestock Genetics Inc., and Sandalan Poultry Farm. GFP will serve as its exclusive technical partner, providing training and practical guidance to producers.
PCFA did not disclose current cage-free egg production, its share of the Philippine egg market, or projected demand. It said, however, that interest is growing among hospitality, foodservice, and other companies seeking reliable cage-free supplies.
“As consumer expectations around animal welfare and food production continue to evolve in the Philippines, cage-free eggs represent an important opportunity for the local egg industry,” Bounty Plus Associate Vice President Dino Diño said.
The association aims to help producers strengthen production capabilities, meet recognized animal welfare standards, and connect with institutional buyers.
GFP has already worked with Kingmerbi on its transition from conventional cages to cage-free production, covering barn retrofitting, farm management, animal welfare practices, and connections with local buyers.
PCFA said it will also promote producer networking, market development, and engagement with government, academic, and business stakeholders as the domestic cage-free sector takes shape.
The push comes as multinational food companies and other large buyers increasingly incorporate cage-free sourcing into their procurement policies, creating potential opportunities for Philippine producers able to meet volume, quality, and welfare requirements.
For local egg producers, the new association provides a platform to coordinate an industry still in its early stages while preparing farms for a market where how eggs are produced could become nearly as important as the eggs themselves.
