Skyro urges Filipinos to budget early for Christmas

Filipinos should start planning their Christmas spending as early as September to avoid a holiday debt hangover, consumer finance platform Skyro said, as financed purchases typically accelerate during the final months of the year.

Skyro said financed purchases rose 49 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025, while December purchases jumped 46 percent from November.

The company advised consumers to map out expected holiday costs, including gifts, reunions, Noche Buena, travel, parties and decorations, and spread the budget across their remaining paydays.

It also warned shoppers not to mistake major 9.9, 10.10 and 11.11 sales for savings if the purchases were not planned in the first place.

For consumers who need financing, Skyro said they should look beyond monthly installments and consider the total repayment, interest, fees and payment deadlines. Borrowing should also match how quickly they can realistically repay.

Skyro said eligible customers can use SkyroCredit, a reusable credit line that offers up to 45 days at zero interest when the interest-free amount is paid by the due date. Its Product Loans offer longer repayment periods, with some eligible offers carrying zero interest and zero down payment, depending on the loan and promotion.

The company also urged workers to assign their 13th-month pay before receiving it, dividing it among holiday expenses, savings, existing obligations and January bills.

Consumers can also stretch their holiday budgets by selling unused items or donate things they no longer need, Skyro said.
