Scam Ready ASEAN program expands to Philippines

As online scams grow more sophisticated, including fraud schemes powered by artificial intelligence, Scam Watch Pilipinas is bringing a regional scam-prevention program to Filipino communities through a new partnership with the ASEAN Foundation.

Scam Watch Pilipinas, through Truth360 Inc., will serve as the Philippine implementing partner of the Scam Ready ASEAN Programme, rolling out training and community education through schools, local governments, and grassroots organizations nationwide.

Supported by Google.org, the regional initiative aims to strengthen digital resilience by helping communities recognize and respond to online scams, including emerging AI-enabled threats.

The program combines structured training, public awareness campaigns, community-based learning activities, and the “Be Scam Ready” game to give participants practical tools for identifying scams and making safer decisions online.

As the Philippine implementing partner, Scam Watch Pilipinas will lead training, awareness campaigns, and grassroots engagement across the country.

The organization will work with schools, local government units, barangays, community organizations, senior citizen groups, and other partners to make scam-prevention education more accessible.

“This partnership forms part of Scam Watch Pilipinas’ broader Whole-of-Organization Approach, which brings together the capabilities, networks, and resources of different institutions to build a more coordinated response to scams,” Jocel de Guzman of Scam Watch Pilipinas said.

“By working with partners at the regional, national, and community levels, we can bring practical scam-prevention education closer to more Filipinos and help create communities that are better prepared to recognize and respond to online threats,” de Guzman added.

The Philippine rollout will also train community educators who can bring scam-awareness lessons to their schools, organizations, and communities, extending the program beyond its initial activities.

The partnership aims to build a wider network of Filipinos who can recognize scams, protect themselves online, and help others in their communities do the same.

Details on upcoming Scam Ready ASEAN activities and participation opportunities will be announced through Scam Watch Pilipinas’ official channels.
