Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC), the country’s sixth-largest bank by assets, is putting veteran equities executive Rene Joseph P. Ner at the helm of its securities business as it strengthens its leadership bench.
Ner will be appointed senior vice president 1 of RCBC effective Oct. 1, 2026, and will also serve as deputy chief executive officer of RCBC Securities Inc. under a secondment arrangement.
He will become president and chief executive officer of RCBC Securities on Nov. 3, giving the bank’s brokerage arm an executive with more than 30 years of experience in institutional finance and equities.
Ner spent 12 years at Credit Suisse Securities Philippines, where he served as director and country head of equities. His career also includes leadership roles at RBS Asia Securities and ABN AMRO Asia Securities.
He later joined AB Capital Securities, where he led post-merger integration, adding experience in navigating change within the securities industry.
His career has covered equities and institutional finance across the Philippines and ASEAN markets, spanning global investment banks and local securities firms.
Ner’s appointment comes with a clear operational timeline. He starts as deputy CEO in October before taking the top job at RCBC Securities in November, bringing a veteran capital-markets executive into leadership of the bank’s securities business.
