Phinma sets sights on Vietnam as next stop for regional education expansion

Phinma Corp. is eyeing Vietnam as a key new market to grow its already expanding network of educational institutions across Southeast Asia, company leadership has confirmed.

Chairman Ramon V. Del Rosario shared that regional expansion lies at the heart of Phinma Education’s growth strategy, even amid ongoing challenges. The company currently operates in the Philippines and Indonesia, where it already serves roughly 6,000 students just three years after launching. Del Rosario expressed strong optimism about both markets, noting Indonesia could eventually match or even exceed the scale of its Philippine operations, while Vietnam represents an exciting new frontier that the team is eager to enter, though formal entry plans are still taking shape.

Phinma Education bills itself as Southeast Asia’s largest private higher education provider by student enrollment, with some 177,000 learners across its existing locations. Founded in 2004, the group focuses on making quality college education affordable and accessible, particularly for low-income communities and first-generation university students. It keeps tuition costs reasonable by streamlining curriculums to prioritize core skills and job readiness, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the workforce.

The company typically grows by acquiring established schools, preserving their original identities while adding the “Phinma” brand name to each institution. Its portfolio includes Araullo University, University of Pangasinan and Saint Jude College in the Philippines, alongside Horizon University Indonesia and Kalbis University in Jakarta, run through a local joint venture. Moving into Vietnam would mark another major milestone in its goal of bringing accessible education to more young people across the region.
