ATFX chairman visit strengthens SmarTrade’s financial education partnership

ATFX Chairman Joe Li’s visit to SmarTrade in Makati this September reaffirmed the organizations’ nearly nine-year partnership, highlighting their shared commitment to advancing financial education and responsible market participation in the Philippines.

The engagement underscored the role of trust, credible leadership, and collaboration in helping Filipinos develop a clearer understanding of financial markets, investment opportunities, and associated risks.

Speaking during a welcome gathering with SmarTrade employees, Li emphasized that leadership is built on earning people’s confidence through expertise, integrity, and a willingness to listen.

“One thing that I think needs to be essential is people willing to listen to you,” Li said, highlighting the importance of consideration, guidance, and a strong work ethic in building effective professional relationships.

He also encouraged employees to demonstrate the values they expect others to follow.

“It all starts with making yourself one of the role models,” he said.

His remarks placed personal accountability alongside institutional collaboration, reflecting the importance of consistent leadership in organizations engaged in financial education. While access to market information has expanded, helping learners distinguish educational guidance from investment promises remains essential to informed decision-making.

The visit also recognized the partnership’s reported reach: 2,913 free online and in-person learning sessions involving nearly 50,000 participants nationwide. These figures illustrate the scale of the organizations’ educational activities, although participation and session counts alone do not measure changes in financial knowledge or investment outcomes.

As the collaboration approaches its ninth anniversary this November, ATFX and SmarTrade reaffirmed their commitment to accessible financial literacy, online trading education, and risk management training.

For SmarTrade, Li’s engagement reinforced the responsibility to equip learners with practical knowledge for navigating financial markets more thoughtfully. The partnership’s continuing relevance will depend not only on extending educational access, but also on maintaining clear risk disclosures and encouraging realistic expectations about trading.

The visit marked both a milestone in a longstanding relationship and a reminder that sustainable financial education requires trust, accountability, and an enduring focus on informed participation.
