VinFast Philippines is targeting more than 8,000 vehicle sales this year as shorter delivery waiting times signal an easing order backlog, supported by continued shipments and demand for its entry-level electric vehicle.
The company delivered 5,417 units through September and expects monthly sales of about 1,000 units from October to December, Victor Vela, deputy chief executive for sales at VinFast Philippines, said during the company’s O2O media briefing on Monday.
Reaching the annual target requires at least 2,584 additional sales in the final quarter, equivalent to about 861 units monthly. Vela’s projection of roughly 1,000 units a month would put the company above that threshold, provided demand and deliveries remain on track.
The VF3, VinFast’s small electric vehicle introduced in the Philippines late last year, accounts for nearly 70% of sales, Vela said. The company sees further growth potential as it expands its dealership network and improves customer access.
Despite strong demand, VinFast has not built up excess inventory, according to Vela. “Every time there’s a new arrival, it’s sold out,” he said, describing continued demand for incoming shipments.
Delivery waiting times have dropped to about one month from four to five months during the demand surge in March. Vela said the waiting period covers the time between a customer’s reservation and vehicle delivery. Continued shipments have helped the company reduce the queue without a corresponding buildup of unsold vehicles.
The improvement could support sales momentum heading into the final months of the year, although the annual target remains dependent on the pace of customer purchases and vehicle arrivals.
VinFast is also positioning the VF3’s customization options and battery subscription arrangement as selling points. According to Vela, these features help make the model more appealing by reducing its upfront price, potentially broadening access to electric vehicles in a market where initial purchase costs remain a consideration.
