DMCI Holdings profit jumps 28% on stronger unit earnings

Record earnings from its power generation and nickel mining businesses, stronger real estate and construction contributions, and sharply reduced cement losses lifted DMCI Holdings Inc.’s net income by 28 percent to P15 billion in the first nine months of 2026.

The diversified engineering and infrastructure group said consolidated net income rose from P11.7 billion in the same period last year, with every subsidiary delivering improved earnings contributions.

Combined contributions from its on-grid and off-grid power businesses surged 42 percent to P5.9 billion from P4.2 billion, with both posting their highest nine-month earnings on record.

For the third quarter alone, net income increased 33 percent to P3.6 billion, supported by stronger contributions from power generation, nickel mining and real estate, alongside continued improvements in cement operations.

Semirara Mining and Power Corp. remained the group’s biggest earnings contributor at P6.3 billion, up 8 percent. Its power business rose 51 percent to P4.8 billion on higher spot electricity prices and improved plant performance. This offset a 46-percent decline in coal earnings to P1.5 billion amid lower shipments and difficult mining conditions.

DMCI Homes contributed P3.1 billion, up 21 percent, benefiting from fewer revenue reversals due to cancellations, a higher-value project mix and higher rental income.

Maynilad Water Services contributed P2.2 billion, down from P2.8 billion a year earlier, following DMCI’s reduced effective ownership after the water utility’s November 2025 initial public offering. Maynilad nevertheless posted record earnings on stronger operations.

DMCI Mining delivered one of the strongest gains, with its contribution soaring 180 percent to a record P2 billion. Higher production and shipments, firmer nickel prices, and the opening of Berong Nickel Corp.’s Long Point mine expanded its active operations to three.

DMCI Power’s contribution climbed 14 percent to an all-time high P1.1 billion on record energy sales, capacity expansions in Masbate and Antique, and stronger wind generation.

Construction arm D.M. Consunji Inc. posted a 76-percent increase in contribution to P329 million, with its order book reaching P41.5 billion as of September.

Meanwhile, Concreat narrowed its attributable net loss by 75 percent to P402 million. Its cement business generated P1.3 billion in core EBITDA, reversing a P31-million loss a year earlier despite elevated fuel costs.
