At the GSMA Digital Nation Summit Manila 2026, Globe urged closer cooperation between government and private industry to build a digital economy rooted in trust and resilience. Held under the theme “Building the Philippines’ Digital Future: Anchoring Trust to Accelerate Value,” the gathering brought together key agencies including the DICT, NPC and CICC alongside business leaders to chart a path toward safer, more reliable digital services that benefit every Filipino.
Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz emphasized that trust is what drives progress across the board. “Trust gives people the confidence to participate, businesses the confidence to invest, and industries the confidence to innovate,” Cruz said. He laid out three key priorities: making digital spaces safer, turning advanced connectivity into real, measurable value, and preparing the country for an AI-powered future. These goals touch everyday life, from keeping online payments secure to creating better work opportunities and ensuring essential services remain dependable.
The summit explored practical steps including stronger scam prevention, clearer consumer protection, and more secure government digital systems. Participants discussed how open digital tools can strengthen identity checks and fraud detection, while Globe highlighted the need for shared protections across telecoms, online platforms and financial services, paired with public awareness campaigns through the Global Anti-Scam Alliance’s Philippine chapter. Reliable connectivity also means staying online even during crises, and Globe stressed the importance of close coordination between telecom firms, power providers and government to improve disaster readiness and recovery. Ongoing investments in backup networks and emergency connectivity help communities remain connected when they need it most.
Looking ahead, the summit examined how technologies like 5G, cloud computing and AI can transform healthcare, manufacturing and logistics—provided the right infrastructure, partnerships and skills are in place. Globe noted that sustained investment in digital infrastructure and emerging technologies is essential to turn these advancements into real advantages for people and businesses nationwide. Through ongoing collaboration with government and industry partners, Globe aims to expand access, boost reliability and strengthen digital safeguards so all Filipinos can use technology with confidence, transact securely, and take part in the country’s digital growth.
