YGC unit installs 3-MW solar rooftop facility in Laguna

Petro Energy Resources Corp. (PERC) subsidiary Petro Green Energy Corp. (PGEC), members of the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC), are partners with Isuzu Autoparts Manufacturing Corp. (IAMC) in the installation of a 3.002-megawatt peak (MWp) rooftop solar project.

The rooftop project relates to the IAMC manufacturing facility in Laguna set to begin construction this year and seen completed in the second quarter next year.

When completed, the project will count among the largest commercial and industrial rooftop solar facilities in Laguna. The installation will feature state-of-the-art solar panels and inverters optimized for high efficiency and reliability.

The solar project is expected to generate approximately 4,000 megawatt-hours of clean energy annually, significantly reducing the facility’s dependence on external power sources and cutting IAMC’s carbon emissions by approximately 3,000 metric tons per year.

“This partnership with PGEC is more than about energy efficiency and power cost reduction. It is a testament of IAMC’s corporate commitment on Isuzu Environmental Vision 2050 to environmental stewardship, support of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Philippines Ambisyon Natin 2040,” said Seiji Mizutani, IAMC president.

Francisco Delfin Jr., PGEC president and chief executive officer, said the project is also the latest and biggest addition to the company’s growing commercial and industrial solar portfolio that now includes commercial, educational and manufacturing partners.

“It also contributes to DOE’s goal of greater energy efficiency and clean energy use in the auto manufacturing sector. We are delighted to have Isuzu as our partner in this shared mission towards energy sufficiency and environmental sustainability,” Delfin added.

PGEC’s other investments include the 32-megawatt Maibarara geothermal power project in Batangas, the 50-MW Nabas wind power project in Aklan, and the 70-MW Tarlac solar power project.

PGEC also acquired three new offshore wind blocks from the Department of Energy covering offshore northern Luzon, northern Mindoro and eastern Panay.
