D&L Industries Inc., a listed chemical manufacturer, has announced that its head office, the LBL Building in Quezon City, has earned LEED Gold certification from Barone International, marking a significant milestone in the company’s sustainability journey.
The certification, achieved after a thorough 12-month evaluation, means that the LBL Building meets stringent standards for operations and maintenance, excelling in energy efficiency, waste management, and indoor air quality.
The facility stands out for its use of zero ozone-depletion refrigerants in its air conditioning system, underscoring DNL’s commitment to environmental stewardship. “As we strive to embody sustainability, we continuously seek ways to enhance our operations and reduce our environmental footprint,” said Alvin Lao, president and CEO of DNL Industries. He added, “Achieving LEED certification for our facilities is a significant step towards ensuring that we adhere to global best practices in sustainability.”
DNL’s sustainability efforts extend to its central hub in Batangas, which also recently received LEED v4 Gold certification. The LBL Building’s LEED v4.1 O+M certification involved an extensive assessment of environmental factors, showcasing a remarkable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a 40 percent savings in water efficiency.
In addition to these certifications, DNL has implemented initiatives to further reduce environmental impact, including enhancing green spaces, reducing hardscape areas, and using reflective materials to mitigate heat island effects. The landscaping promotes local biodiversity by creating habitats for various species.
With these achievements, DNL Industries is setting a benchmark in corporate sustainability, demonstrating leadership in environmentally responsible operations.
