Meralco Power Gen Corp. (MGen) subsidiary Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (TSPI) has inked an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Power Construction Corporation of China Ltd. (Power China) for the development of the east side of the MTerra Solar project in Nueva Ecija. The project, once completed, will be the world’s largest contiguous solar and battery power plant, covering 1,505 hectares and contributing 1,050 MW of the total 3,500 MW capacity.
Power China will oversee its execution, from procurement and engineering to on-site delivery and long-term operational support. The east section of the MTerra Solar project is designed to provide clean energy to over two million households in the Philippines.
“This marks a bold step toward a sustainable energy future for the Philippines,” said Dennis Jordan, TSPI president. Emmanuel Rubio, MGen CEO, emphasized Power China’s track record and expertise in delivering large-scale energy infrastructure.
TSPI also signed a similar EPC contract last month with Energy China for the west side of the MTerra Solar project, further solidifying its commitment to renewable energy development.
MGen renewable energy arm, MGEN Renewable Energy Inc., holds a controlling stake in TSPI, with 40 percent investment from UK-based Actis earlier this year.
