NAIA Terminal 3 launches new ride-hailing hub for smoother holiday travel

The New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) has launched a centralized state-of-the-art hub for ride-hailing services and metered taxis at Terminal 3, marking a major milestone in the modernization of the country’s primary airport. The facility, which had a soft launch on 5 December and became fully operational today, Sunday, is designed to alleviate congestion, improve traffic flow, and enhance the overall passenger experience—just in time for the peak holiday travel season.

Located at Terminal 3’s multi-level parking building, the 6,000-square-meter hub offers 401 parking slots, 18 loading bays, and dedicated lanes for transport network vehicle services (TNVS). Its strategic layout, complete with multiple entry and exit points, aims to streamline traffic management and ensure smooth operations for both passengers and drivers.

NNIC general manager Lito Alvarez expressed confidence in the project’s ability to enhance the airport experience. “With a centralized hub and diverse transportation options, we are bringing more order and efficiency to the airport. This is part of our commitment to making travel smoother and stress-free for every passenger,” Alvarez said.

Grab Philippines, the country’s leading ride-hailing platform, was the first operator to transition to the new hub. The company began full-scale operations also today, having already provided services during the soft launch. Grab Philippines country head Ronald Roda commended the NNIC for its vision, saying, “We are proud to be the first to transition to this centralized station, setting the standard for all TNVS operators. We are committed to working with NNIC to ensure a smooth transition for our passengers and driver-partners.”

The hub not only improves the experience for passengers but also offers significant benefits for drivers. Roda said the initiative is a “game-changer” for TNVS drivers as it streamlines the airport’s operations while supporting drivers’ livelihoods. “This effort elevates the experience for both passengers and drivers,” he said.

Other ride-hailing platforms are also joining the facility. JoyRide, which begins operations on 10 December, will provide both app-based rides and its Super Taxi fleet at the hub. Noli Eala, JoyRide SVP for corporate affairs, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “Our partnership with NNIC ensures passengers have access to reliable transport, whether through app-based services or our Super Taxi fleet.”

Angkas, known for its motorcycle ride service, will expand its offerings with Angcars, a four-wheeled transport service, at the hub. CEO George Royeca highlighted the significance of the partnership with NNIC, saying, “Our collaboration ensures a seamless, safe, and reliable option for passengers. This initiative is a win for travelers, drivers, and airport efficiency alike.”

The new hub comes as part of the NNIC’s broader efforts to modernize the NAIA, addressing long-standing issues such as overcrowding and outdated infrastructure. By partnering with key operators like Grab, JoyRide, and Angkas, NNIC aims to provide a world-class airport experience that meets the growing demands of today’s travelers.

In addition to the app-based services, passengers who don’t have ride-hailing apps can make on-the-spot bookings at dedicated lounges for Grab, JoyRide, and Angkas, located adjacent to the car park. These lounges, including Grab’s, will streamline the booking process and ensure immediate access to transportation.

As the holiday season kicks into full swing, the new hub is expected to play a crucial role in improving both the convenience and efficiency of transportation at NAIA Terminal 3, offering travelers a smoother and more hassle-free airport experience.
