Thai Airways International (THAI) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Airbus to retrofit its A350-900 fleet, a move set to elevate passenger experience and boost operational efficiency across its long-haul network.
The cabin upgrade program, managed by Airbus, will feature new-generation Business Class ‘Royal Silk’ seats, the introduction of Premium Economy seating, and refreshed Economy Class options. A revamped in-flight entertainment system is also part of the overhaul, aimed at delivering a seamless, high-comfort journey for all cabin classes.
Work on the retrofit is scheduled to begin in 2028, with the modernised aircraft re-entering service in stages to avoid disrupting operations.
“Airbus is pleased to support THAI in this significant investment in their fleet,” said Balinda Zhang, Airbus ehad of commercial services APAC. “This retrofit aligns with our shared vision of delivering enhanced comfort and efficiency for airlines and their customers.”
The agreement underscores THAI’s commitment to fleet modernisation and reinforces its long-standing partnership with Airbus. The A350 remains central to THAI’s international service strategy, and the upgrades are expected to enhance its competitiveness in the premium travel market.
