DITO Telecommunity Corp. on Tuesday rejected allegations that it is illegally employing foreign nationals, asserting that the claims are “inaccurate and unfounded.”
The third-largest telco in the Philippines clarified that the 39 foreign nationals recently brought to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for verification on 29 May were not DITO employees, but personnel from accredited business partners providing technical support for its standalone 5G network.
“Their presence was strictly for the purpose of fulfilling contractually agreed technical and support obligations—an ordinary practice in infrastructure projects of this scale,” DITO said in a statement.
The company emphasized that it operates in full compliance with Philippine labor and immigration laws and expects BI records to confirm the individuals possess valid visas and work permits.
The clarification is aimed at safeguarding DITO’s reputation and operational continuity amid heightened public and regulatory scrutiny. The telco reaffirmed its cooperation with relevant authorities and its commitment to legal and ethical business practices as it continues to scale its 5G rollout.
