Meralco on standby for storm-related emergencies

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, assured the public of its readiness to respond to electricity service issues brought about by the lingering effects of Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga emphasized that crews are on standby and monitoring affected areas. “Our crews are ready to respond to any possible electricity service concern,” Zaldarriaga said, while also urging the public to prioritize electrical safety, especially during flooding.

Meralco reminded customers to switch off main circuit breakers, unplug appliances, and ensure all electrical equipment is completely dry before use. A licensed electrician should inspect any flood-damaged wiring or devices before reactivation.

Zaldarriaga also encouraged the public to keep devices fully charged and communication lines open. Customers may report outages through Meralco’s Facebook and Twitter pages, via SMS at 0920-9716211 or 0917-5516211, or by calling the 24/7 hotline at 16211.
