DILG suspends government work, classes amid rains

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced on Monday the suspension of classes and work in government offices on Tuesday, August 26, in Metro Manila and 14 provinces in Luzon and the Visayas due to inclement weather.

The decision follows a weather advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warning of heavy rains and potential flash floods brought by a Low Pressure Area (LPA), the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), and localized thunderstorms. Affected areas, particularly those facing the Pacific Ocean, stretch from the Leyte provinces in the Visayas to Aurora in Luzon.

The suspension covers the following provinces: Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.
