FPIP named major economic driver in Batangas

The Lopez-led First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) and 12 of its locators have been recognized as top contributors to local taxes and employment in 2024, underscoring their key role in driving economic growth in Santo Tomas City.

During the city’s Taxpayers’ Day celebration on September 1, Mayor Arth Jhun “Ajam” Marasigan awarded plaques of recognition to FPIP and its locators for their substantial contributions—amounting to ₱159 million or 17 percent of the city’s ₱935-million total income, and generating 60 percent of nearly 12,500 new jobs created this year.

“We are honored to be part of Santo Tomas’ growth,” said Ricky Carandang, head of FPIP’s External Affairs and Marketing. “Our contributions aim to support the delivery of fast, efficient public services and job creation for Tomasinos.”

Vice Mayor Catherine “Cathy” Jaurigue-Perez also emphasized FPIP’s role in enabling the city’s development agenda. “Their commitment has helped us drive economic progress and provide better opportunities for our citizens,” she said.

FPIP and nine of its locators—led by Dyson Philippines—were named among the top 20 real property tax contributors, with Dyson ranking first. FPIP itself ranked seventh.

Three FPIP-based firms were also top job generators: Nexem-EMD Technologies (1st), Murata Philippines (3rd), and Brother Industry Philippines (5th). Other notable contributors include Amcor Flexible Philippines, which made both the top RPT (4th) and business tax (5th) lists.

Established as a joint venture between First Philippine Holdings Corp. and Japan’s Sumitomo Corp., FPIP spans 600 hectares and houses over 150 global manufacturers. It is registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and remains a major engine of high-value job creation in the region.
