Three major accounting organizations have signed a new memorandum of agreement (MOA) to continue the Search for Outstanding Accountancy Students in the Philippines (SOASP), now in its 27th year.
The deal was signed by P&A Foundation Inc., the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry (ACPACI). The annual competition aims to recognize academic excellence, leadership potential, and the evolving role of accountancy students in shaping the profession.
“This MOA signing is more than just a formal agreement: it’s a celebration of collaboration, shared vision and a collective belief in the power of the next generation of accountants,” said Jone Mengullo, academic partnerships and talent pipeline manager at P&A Grant Thornton.
Romualdo V. Murcia III, P&A Grant Thornton chairman and managing partner, emphasized expanding participation and enhancing the student experience through improved testing formats. This year’s edition will allow up to seven student participants per school and aims for wider provincial participation by setting up one testing center per region.
Now fully digital, the competition builds on recent changes that moved away from traditional pen-and-paper exams. The grand finals and awarding ceremony will be held on March 20, 2026, at the Makati Diamond Hotel.
All graduating accountancy students in good academic standing are eligible to join.
Present during the signing were Murcia, ACPACI national president Aristeo Cruz, and PICPA vice president for operations Henry Tan.
