ALLHC targets full sustainability certification by 2028

AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp. (ALLHC) cold chain unit Artico aims to secure green certification for all seven of its facilities by 2028, in keeping with its push toward sustainability and climate goals.

According to ALLHC president and CEO Robert S. Lao, the company is pursuing EDGE Advanced certification for its facilities and transitioning to renewable energy to support its vision of becoming a national cold chain operator.

Artico’s sustainability efforts support parent company Ayala Land Inc.’s broader goals of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.

Artico operates seven facilities in locations including Laguna, Cebu, and Pampanga with a total capacity of 31,500 pallet positions. The facilities cater to industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, and industrial products.

Artico Biñan 1 recently received EDGE Advanced certification from the Philippine Green Building Initiative, confirming the site’s 40 percent energy efficiency and readiness for net-zero emissions. The certification, developed by the International Finance Corp. (IFC), recognizes buildings that significantly reduce energy, water, and embodied carbon.

“Achieving EDGE Advanced certification positions Artico at the forefront of sustainable cold storage,” said IFC Philippines country manager Amena Arif. “It shows that logistics facilities in the Philippines can meet global standards for efficiency and environmental responsibility.”

Artico Mandaue and Biñan 2 facilities are already using 100 percent renewable energy under the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), further reinforcing the company’s low-carbon ambitions.
