First diesel price cut in eight weeks

The various fuel retailers will implement mixed price adjustments starting Tuesday, October 21. Gasoline prices will rise by P0.10 per liter, while diesel and kerosene will drop by P0.70 and P0.60 per liter, respectively.

The price changes will take effect at 6:00 a.m. for Seaoil, Jetti, and PTT, and at 6:01 a.m. for Caltex.

This marks the first rollback in diesel prices after eight straight weeks of increases, totaling P5.90 per liter from late August to early October.

Industry officials cited global market factors, including renewed U.S.-China trade tensions, geopolitical issues involving Russia and Ukraine, and ongoing refinery maintenance in Asia, as key drivers behind the adjustments. While diesel prices have softened, gasoline benchmarks remain supported by tight regional supply and strong demand from countries like Indonesia.

Last week, fuel firms raised gasoline prices by P0.30 per liter, cut kerosene by P0.20, and kept diesel prices unchanged.

But year-to-date net increases stand at P15.30/liter for gasoline, P17.15/liter for diesel, and P4.85/liter for kerosene.

According to the Department of Energy, pump prices in Metro Manila (as of October 14–20) average P54.30 for RON 91 gasoline, P55.45 for diesel, and P76.74 for kerosene.
