Belgium highlights rising PH demand for quality pork

The Belgian Meat Office (BMO) is seeing strong growth opportunities in the Philippines as the country’s demand for premium, safe, and fully traceable pork continues to rise. On Tuesday the BMO said that in first quarter this year, pork accounted for 53.2 percent of all Philippine meat imports, underscoring the market’s increasing reliance on trusted international suppliers.

Following the African swine fever outbreak, Filipino consumers and food service operators have become more focused on strict food safety standards, product origin, and consistent quality—priorities that align directly with Belgium’s strengths.

As an organization representing Belgian pork exporters, BMO gave assurance that partners deliver on these market expectations through strict adherence to EU food safety legislation, full supply-chain transparency, and reliable, high-quality production. BMO also equips exporters with the insights and flexibility needed to support buyers, including dependable volume, customized cuts, and tailored service.

BMO showcased these advantages at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2025, held from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai. The annual event is one of the world’s most important trade platforms for food and agriculture. At CIIE, BMO presented Belgian pork’s defining qualities, including complete traceability, strong animal welfare standards, sustainability throughout production, and premium taste backed by rigorous controls.

BMO’s participation at CIIE reinforces Belgium’s position as a trusted supplier in dynamic global markets, including the Philippines. The Shanghai showcase follows BMO’s engagement at Anuga 2025 in Cologne, where the organization welcomed trade visitors from the Philippines and other key regions, further strengthening international partnerships and market presence.
