Negros Power nears full power restoration after Typhoons Tino, Uwan

Negros Electric and Power Corp. is close to fully restoring electricity across Central Negros after Typhoons Tino and Uwan, according to the Department of Energy (DOE). As of 6 p.m. on November 17, 2025, power has been restored to more than 92 percent of the 244,915 affected customers.

Energy Secretary Sharon Garin lauded the company’s fast progress, saying it reflects strong coordination and dedication on the ground. The utility has already brought back all major parts of the system—5 sub-transmission lines, 11 substations, and 48 feeders—rebuilding the backbone of the area’s power network.

In Bacolod City, restoration is nearly complete, with 100 percent of secondary lines and 98.9 percent of service connectionsalready energized.

Around 8 percent of customers remain without power, mostly in remote or heavily damaged areas where repairs are more difficult. These include locations with downed poles that need manual hauling, damaged meters and service wires, private property that requires coordination before reconnection, and homes with storm-damaged service entrances.

The DOE is working closely with Negros Power and the National Electrification Administration to speed up the remaining repairs by providing materials and support. Crews are aiming to restore most of the remaining connections within the next 72 hours, depending on weather and site conditions.

The Department thanked local governments, volunteers, and partner agencies for their 24/7 efforts, highlighting the bayanihan spirit driving recovery. The DOE reiterated that restoring power is essential to rebuilding communities and emphasized its commitment to fulfilling President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive for fast and resilient disaster recovery.
