Agricultural losses from Tropical Storms Tino and Uwan have climbed to ₱5.16 billion, the Department of Agriculture (DA) reported on Monday.
Uwan caused ₱4.19 billion in damage, affecting 85,689 farmers, 99,572 hectares, and resulting in 164,274 metric tons of lost production. High-value crops accounted for the largest losses of ₱2.66 billion, followed by rice of ₱732.48 million.
Tino added ₱968.16 million in damage, affecting 49,927 farmers and 17,886 hectares. Losses included ₱393.29 millionfor high-value crops and ₱336 million for rice.
The DA said assessments are ongoing and damage figures may still rise.
As of November 24, the agency has distributed seeds, animal feeds, fish fingerlings, and 25,660 bags of NFA rice to affected areas. Price ceilings remain in effect in calamity zones, while farmers may access zero-interest loans and crop insurance for recovery.
