Negros Power restores electricity across Central Negros after typhoons

Negros Power has fully restored electricity in Central Negros after back-to-back Typhoons Tino and Uwan damaged the power network earlier this month. The company said that as of November 27, all lateral lines were re-energized, bringing power back to nearly 250,000 customers.

The distribution utility covers Bacolod, Silay, Talisay and Bago cities, along with the towns of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto.

Negros Power president and CEO Roel Castro thanked government officials, local leaders, volunteers, contractors, and the company’s crews for their coordinated work, calling the effort a display of “true Bayanihan spirit.”

Energy Secretary Sharon Garin also commended the company and local communities for their “extraordinary speed and safety” in restoring power. Consumer groups, including ACCESS, praised the utility’s response and the public’s resilience after the storms.

With electricity now fully restored, households and businesses across Central Negros are moving back toward normal operations.
