EDSA Busway lanes reopen after repairs

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Monday that the EDSA busway lanes between Roxas Boulevard and Orense are now fully open after repair works were completed.

According to the DOTr, both northbound and southbound lanes have returned to normal operations following the completion of asphalt overlay works under the EDSA Rehabilitation Project. The repairs were finished on schedule, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to speed up improvements ahead of the return to work and school on January 5.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez thanked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), led by Secretary Vince Dizon, for completing the project on time. He said the improved lanes will help ensure faster and more comfortable travel for commuters.

Commuters and drivers have reported smoother rides and shorter travel times after the repairs. The DOTr said the ongoing rehabilitation of EDSA aims to provide safer, more convenient, and more comfortable travel.

Lopez also reminded the public that the inner busway lane is strictly for authorized buses only. Private vehicles are not allowed, and violators will be apprehended through on-ground enforcement and the No Contact Apprehension Policy.

Meanwhile, the DOTr, DPWH, and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) continue to work together to complete the full EDSA Rehabilitation Project in the coming months. Repair works in other EDSA sections will continue daily from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

The EDSA Busway Project is a key government initiative aimed at improving public transport efficiency, safety, and accessibility along Metro Manila’s main highway.
