Mixed fuel price movements seen this week

Fuel prices are expected to move in different directions this Tuesday, with a small increase likely for gasoline and little to no change for diesel, according to Jetti Petroleum Inc.

The company said gasoline prices may go up by P0.10 to P0.30 per liter, while diesel prices could remain unchanged or increase by as much as P0.20 per liter. The expected adjustments are based on last week’s global crude oil trading.

Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas said global geopolitical tensions continue to affect oil prices. He cited concerns over a possible halt in Iran’s oil exports due to civil unrest, potential disruptions in Russian oil supplies as the Russia-Ukraine war escalates, and uncertainty over Venezuela’s oil output. These factors pushed crude and refined fuel prices higher toward the end of last week.

Meanwhile, Rodela Romero, director of the Department of Energy’s Oil Industry Management Bureau, said the agency’s four-day price monitoring shows kerosene prices could fall by up to P0.25 per liter.

The expected adjustments follow last week’s mixed price changes, when gasoline prices fell by P0.10 per liter, while diesel and kerosene rose by P0.20 and P0.10 per liter, respectively.
As of end-2025, fuel prices posted net increases of P20.50 per liter for gasoline, P21.05 per liter for diesel, and P5.75 per liter for kerosene.

For the period of January 6 to 12, 2026, the Department of Energy reported pump prices in Metro Manila averaging P51.10 per liter for RON 91 gasoline, P55.60 for diesel, and P78.57 for kerosene.
