Megaworld to Invest P8 Billion in New Talisay Township

Megaworld Corp. will invest P8 billion to deve97-hectare property in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Road. The new township, called Sugartown, will be Megaworld’s 37th township nationwide and its third in Negros Occidental.

The mixed-use development will take seven to 10 years to complete and will include residential projects by Megaworld and its subsidiary Suntrust Properties Inc., as well as commercial, retail, and tourism facilities. Sugartown will feature its own town center, commercial district, and tourist attractions.

“Our vision is to boost tourism and create a vibrant residential community near the airport,” said Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, Megaworld president and CEO.

Sugartown is strategically located less than five minutes from Bacolod-Silay Airport and Talisay City Hall, about 15 minutes from the Bacolod City Government Center, and close to Megaworld’s existing townships, Northill Gateway and Upper East.

Kevin Andrew L. Tan, executive director, said that the project reflects the growing trend of mixed-use developments in the region and Megaworld’s commitment to supporting local economic and tourism growth.
