Isuzu Philippines Corp. posted class-leading results at the 2025 Department of Energy Fuel Eco-Run, with the D-MAX and mu-X recording top fuel efficiency figures in their respective categories under real-world highway conditions.
The annual DOE activity, conducted last September, evaluates the actual fuel consumption of production vehicles sold in the Philippine market. IPC entered two of its best-selling models. The Isuzu D-MAX LS-A 4×2 automatic led the N1 category with a fuel efficiency rating of 20.63 km/Lge, while the Isuzu mu-X LS-A 4×2 automatic logged 17.11 km/Lge in the M1 mid-size SUV category.
According to IPC Sales Division Head Robert Carlos, the results reflect the brand’s long-standing focus on efficiency. “The exceptional performance of the D-MAX and mu-X comes as no surprise, as the Isuzu brand is globally renowned for fuel efficiency. Our advanced diesel engine technology and aerodynamic design help optimize performance across varying road conditions,” he said.
The 2025 Eco-Run was conducted entirely on highways to simulate everyday driving, with participating vehicles covering more than 150 kilometers along the Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway. The activity was fully supervised by the DOE to ensure standardized and transparent testing procedures.
The Eco-Run aims to provide consumers and fleet operators with comparable, objective fuel efficiency data at a time when operating costs remain a key consideration in vehicle purchases.
For Isuzu, the results reinforce its competitive position in the light commercial and SUV segments, where fuel efficiency continues to be a decisive factor for both private buyers and business users.
