More than 200 nano-entrepreneurs got a strong start to 2026 as the Quezon City Small Business Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office (QC-SBCDPO) and BDO Foundation held a free financial literacy and entrepreneurship session at the Amoranto Sports Complex.
The activity, titled “Ayusin ang Pera, Palaguin ang Negosyo,”aimed to help the smallest business owners—such as sari-sari store operators, market vendors, and other self-employed workers—manage their money better and grow their livelihoods.
The learning session was led by financial educator Chinkee Tan, who shared practical lessons on money, mindset, and basic business skills, drawing from real-life experiences. Participants learned how better financial habits and clearer planning can help them make smarter decisions, even with very small capital. City officials also reminded attendees that Quezon City offers free capacity-building programs for small business owners through partnerships with groups like BDO Foundation.
The event also highlighted the importance of registering nano-enterprises. Participants were briefed on the city’s Nano-Enterprise Registration Program, which allows registered businesses to enjoy tax and registration fee exemptions under local ordinances. City leaders stressed that formalizing small businesses gives entrepreneurs access to more support, protection, and opportunities to grow.
Organizers said empowering nano-entrepreneurs matters because they make up a large part of the local economy and support many families. By improving access to financial knowledge and government support, initiatives like this help small business owners become more confident, resilient, and better prepared for the future.
