The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is pushing to launch direct flights between Manila and Israel before the end of the year, aiming to strengthen travel and economic ties between the two countries.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the agency is working closely with Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Dana Kursh, as well as Philippine Ambassador to Israel Aileen Mendiola, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and other government agencies to make the route possible.
Lopez assured that the DOTr is committed to opening the direct route within the year and will do everything it can to fast-track the process.
Ambassador Kursh welcomed the move, saying many Israelis are interested in visiting the Philippines’ top tourist destinations. She described the plan as a major business opportunity for both countries.
Ambassador Mendiola said the direct flights could open the door to stronger economic partnerships, including two-way investments and joint projects. She added that easier travel would help boost trade, tourism, and business exchanges.
If launched, the direct flights are expected to benefit the travel industry by increasing tourist arrivals and making travel more convenient. The move could also support the broader economy by encouraging investment, creating jobs, and strengthening business ties between the Philippines and Israel.
